By now we have all seen this video.  Some people like it.  Some people hate it.  Some people love the message it sends, other people just don’t get it.  Feminism 2014.  I am of the opinion that this video serves zero purpose.  It is no less of a propaganda piece than would be put out by the North Korean government.  If Potty-Mouth-Princessyou are basing all of your core values on an 8 year old screaming ‘fuck’ over and over, you need to reevaluate your values.

I get it; women want equal rights, equal pay, gender equality across the board.  Do you really think having your 8 year old telling America to fuck off is going to fix it?  Do you really think being told “you’re pretty” is going to send you into a never ending spiral of injustice?  The number one excuse is “If someone says that to me, then it’s followed by let’s fuck, or rape!”  No it’s not.  Here are some numbers for you to crunch:

89,000 Rapes reported yearly.  This includes statutory, men on women, women on men, men on men, etc.  That is equal to about 244 per day.  Of those 244, 75% of all rapes are perpetrated by a friend or family member.  That leaves 61 per day nationwide by strangers.  In the 64 states & territories covered that is less than 1 per day (INCLUDING statutory & prison rape).  So let’s take New York for example…population 19.5 million and 1 rape…that means there is a 1 in 185,000 chance it’s you.  I think it is safe to say that a compliment typically will not lead to rape.  You know what will?  A psychopath hiding in the bushes waiting to pounce.

Women using the excuse of “I don’t want to get raped” by acknowledging a compliment or greeting would be the equivalent of me saying “I won’t go outside when it’s clear out because…lightning”.  There is always a chance of something bad happening, but the chance is so miniscule you have a better shot of winning 100 bucks on a scratch off.

There is more to a woman than looks obviously, and I’m not disputing that fact.  However what I am disputing is that “good morning” “she’s cute” or “how are you” is a life altering harassment experience.  I know, I know…the internet said we  should be outraged.  Well the internet should tell you to stop being a fucking sheep and think for yourselves.  Herd mentality.  Every time a new cause springs up everybody is “one”.  What?  You are tired of being told you are pretty?  What a shitty burden to have to bear.  You have to hear “You’re pretty” 3-5 times a day…meanwhile I get to hear “Men are assholes.”  “Men are dicks.”  “I got him wrapped.”  So while you get compliments, I get berated..all in the name of equality.

Here’s a thought for you…if you want to make a difference in the lives of women start by dropping the snarky videos, and “internet movement” and do something useful with your time.  Become a CEO, become a Doctor, become President.  The only thing holding you back is you.  America has become a nation of “it’s not my fault I….” instead of being the nation it was founded to be.  If you want something, go get it.  You are no longer being oppressed by anyone but yourselves.  Playing the victim when it comes to gender, race, or sexuality does not enhance your cause…however doing something about it does.
